The day began with a session of sharing and reflection on the tension between the present and the future.  The participants were invited to identify two or three elements that make up a part of the landscape of tomorrow's religious life and the essential changes needed to go forward. this was followed by the keynote address by Timothy Radcliffe, OP on the future of religious life.

June 7, 2008 - Pilgrimage at Sainte Anne de Beaupré

It was with great emotion that religious of all ages filled the Basilica of Saint Anne de Beaupré for Vespers. They gathered together as one voice to give thanks and to celebrate four centuries of religious life in Canada, with all its achievenments, tireless work, joys as well as the legacy of the founders.

It was as a brother that Cardinal Marc Ouellet addressed those assembled.  For him, this gathering nad the celebration of Vespers were a witness to communion in the Church. The celebration of Vespers was prepared by CRC personnel  and young religious under the direction of Rick Van Lier, OP. Timothy Radcliffe, OP, delivered the homily. Open PDF document. The celebration concluded with a tree planting ceremony as a reminder to future generations of the gift of themselves freely given by thousands of religious across Canada. This was following with the unveiling of a plaque on which was incribed the theme of General Assembly: Remembering for the Future, Canadian Religious Conference, 2008.
