A Day of Reflection and Sharing on New Evangelisation in the Context of the New Cosmology

“Christ is the reflection of God’s glory and bears the impress of God’s own being, sustaining all things by his powerful command.” Hebrews 1:3

This day of reflection and sharing on the theme of New Evangelisation IN THE CONTEXT OF the New Cosmology is being organised by the CRC Mission-Formation service. It will be offered across the country in English and in French in the course of 2013. It is addressed to leadership teams, and to all women and men religious, as well as to Associates who desire to reflect on these issues of Evangelisation.

With the conclusion of the Synod on the new Evangelisation, we question ourselves on the role of consecrated life: How do we evangelise in the present context of our world? How do we share our faith so that people will be renewed in their hope? How do we accompany persons we meet each day?

The new cosmology challenges us to rethink the mysteries of our faith. How do we speak about God and Jesus Christ in the context of the new cosmology? How can a new vision of creation, of the world and of our faith transform our Christian life? How do the issues of the new cosmology bring us to witness differently to the Good News of Jesus Christ? How do the challenges of the new cosmology call us to respond as consecrated persons? In the words of André Beauchamp, how can we convert our perceptions and find a new breath?

Leadership that Transforms Workshop

February 7, 2013: “What is the difference between problem-solving and listening for clues to the activity of God? How do you change disturbance into new possibility?” With questions like these, through power-point presentations and contemplative conversations, 46 workshop participants were invited to re-focus their ministry of leadership.

The workshop, sponsored by the CRC, was offered to leaders of religious congregations during the weekend of January 25-27, 2013 at the Providence International Centre in Montreal. The leader and workshop facilitator, Sister Brenda Peddigrew, RSM, called the participants “to contemplation, not only as an inner practice, but as a way to encounter the world from within.”

Workshop participants appreciated the times of silent contemplation in community creating a space for contemplative listening, noticing what stirs within rather than seeking a response to the speaker. As the workshop unfolded, it became very clear that personal transformation is at the heart of transformative leadership.
